There are a plethora of resources available online that have been shown to motivate and support student learning. We have several programs we use in our class to enrich our literacy and math practice, specifically Myon, Imagine Learning, and XtraMath. By having Chromebooks, each student has the ability to keep their files organized, bookmark the specific sites they visit, and collaborate with peers on Google Docs and Slides. These resources help reach the students at their level to better scaffold their learning. Having a 1:1 ratio of Chromebooks allows everyone the same amount of time with leveled instruction within different programs, and teaches them important accountability and ownership skills. By teaching them good computer practice, troubleshooting, and useful shortcuts and methods will allow them to learn transferable skills. It will also deepen their initiative and comfort with technology. These things will benefit them in all aspects of life.
