My students come from a suburban town just outside of Charleston. I teach in a resource setting that services grades K-5. They are eager learners with disabilities that have a wide range of challenges. Some examples are Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism, Speech/Language Impairments and Traumatic Brain Injuries. My students also have a long list of different needs such as sensory integration, fine motor skills, gross motor skills or attention/behavior. My students are very capable learners that need a little extra. Some students may need to fidget toys, some need stability cushions, while others are in constant motion while working. My students need a classroom that has some simple modifications to help them get the most out of their school day. Having said that, there is no limit to what my students can achieve when given the tools they need to be successful. These items will allow the students fulfill their sensory needs as well as work on fine motor skills to help them be successful throughout their day. All materials will be a great asset to help create a multi-sensory classroom and will serve a great purpose for my students with special needs!
