Yoga and flexible seating were an integral part of my classroom last year and my students' favorite part of their day. I saw a tremendous difference in the students' ability to focus, control their emotions, and academic growth. I also intertwined some flexible seating options throughout the day, which correlates directly with body awareness, empowering students and engagement. With this project, I will be able to expand my flexible seating options to include: wobble chairs , yoga balls , yoga mats and bean bag seats. It will provide numerous options for students to do whole group and independent work where they feel the most comfortable to do their best work. Also, the use of yoga mats and blocks will assist students with proper form, grip (they slide on carpet) and help those who need the extra support doing specific poses. It also gives students an opportunity to practice yoga more authentically and accurately.
