Finding methods to peak a student's interest in reading is invaluable. By providing alternate seating and allowing students to use alternate seating allows them to find a comfortable and interesting place to read. I have used rocking chairs in the past and students clamor to sit there. Knowing that they can only use alternate seating if they are, in fact, reading promotes the development of readers and the love of reading. Reading is my passion and I work hard to ensure that my students become avid readers and who also have the same passion. Anything we can do, as teachers, to transform the typical classroom into a wonderful place to learn is key to creating life long learners and readers!
