Every Friday, my third grade students rotate through math stations to solve problems in math, especially in the areas of multiplication and division. In order to maximize learning, I try to keep my stations creative and motivational so the students actually enjoy the math concepts they are learning about as they develop problem solving skills that will help them to be successful in life. Dry erase boards are an effective tool for the computation they work out everyday. The strategic games provide an increase in their mental math abilities, while they students are using fun, engaging games to strengthen multiplication and division facts. Students who have mastery of basic facts are much more successful in developing strategies that require higher level thinking skills that promotes problem solving in all other areas of math.
