We are struggling to understand math concepts. These materials will be used to give visual and tactile representations of important math concepts such the place value discs will help us get an idea for numbers in a base ten system. This will help us understand the value of numbers and add and subtract with regrouping. The geo boards help us create shapes to learn geometry these will also help with area and perimeter. We will use the clipboards to explore our world and record math all around us. I want the students to gain a deep understanding of what place value means. Our school is unable to provide these materials for us. The parents have donated a little toward the goal of more hands on math, but the area we live in is having a tough time financially.
