Adding a drone to our STEAM program will add another relevant component for students to acquire basic computer science skills by learning to program flight routes connected to specific drone use and different tricks that the drone can perform. STEAM skills realized through the exposure of drone activities will include hands-on, active participation to effectively solve problems relative to decisions made based on the generating and refining of flight routes with specific purposes; grasping basic science and math principles connected to aerodynamics; critical thinking skills through analyzing data of flight routes in a collaborative environment. This opportunity will allow my students to continue to build their technological proficiency resumes in preparation for post-secondary and occupational experiences.
