Learning does not always happen in a seat. The best learning requires students to get up and move around. That is easy to accomplish with pen, paper, and book; not so much with heavy, clunky CPU's. As a classroom that services Gifted Enrichment for two schools, 2nd through 12th Grades, an after-school robotics program, and two English/Language Arts Honors classes, the need for faster, modern, and more-efficient technology is necessary for the acceleration of student engagement and learning. My students need to be able to take their learning off of a desk and out of a classroom. The products I have selected will help at giving my students the ability to get up and take their work with them, while still allowing them to utilize skills needed for the modern day. My students need to be able to practice their typing skills without waiting for a day to go to the computer lab. They need to be able to access the internet and use Google Classroom from anywhere across campus. From typing essays, to creating multimedia projects for displaying ideas, to researching the latest STEAM Designs, to programming their robots, these students need reliable and updated technology to master the skills necessary for today; skills that are creative, scientific, and purposeful. The laptops I have selected are lightweight, operate on Windows 10, and come with the necessary features to propel and accelerate their learning. I know what technology can do to make or break a student's learning, and I hope that these instruments will advance my students to their next levels and beyond!
