This year is my first year in a classroom teaching students with Autism. Much of our work together is teaching students new words and ideas using pictures that they recognize and linking them to text. The students benefit from these activities most when they use markers and colors as they help the student nteract with the words and ideas in more vibrant and memorable ways. I have also asked for folders to help us organize our work for our end of the year portfolios. The students started with folders, but quickly they quickly filled them with work they are proud of. I am hoping that the folders and bankers boxes will help me make sure I capture all the great materials they are producing before sending them home at the end of the year. I also asked for a stapler to replace one that broke when it fell off of table and a smart speaker I hope to use as a timer with the students.
