Students with diverse needs have the ability to show their creativity through different iPad apps. There are apps to help with basic reading, writing and math skills that are engaging and students feel successful. I have seen students who normally struggle in school find purpose and excitement by creating amazing projects to show what they know. When students feel successful they enjoy school more and behavior issues decrease. Using technology in the classroom helps prepare them for a changing world. Writing is an area where most of my students struggle, and writing is a vital skill they will need in middle and high school to “show what they know”. Yet writing can be tedious and difficult for many. There are iPad apps that utilize the camera feature to make writing engaging and exciting and kids don’t even realize they are learning! I would also like to get my students involved in either a school yearbook project and/or a school newspaper!
