Having this project funded could give Stallion Sweethearts an opportunity to develop different life skills such as dancing, cooking, sewing, and building friendships. We need a sewing machine, thread, and crafting supplies to make this happen. The other materials requested, such as markers, scissors, and glue, will be used to create inspirational posters for the the fun, loving and respectful environment that we strive for. Grouping students for these ideas will result in confidence to succeed in both academic and social settings. The Empowerment group will work on various projects to promote positive interactions such as Self-Respect, Self Esteem, Kindness, Love and Media Etiquette. Just like adults, students can reduce stress by enjoying hobbies, time with friends, exercise, or music. When teachers use strategies to reduce stress and build a positive emotional environment, students gain emotional resilience and learn more efficiently and at higher levels of cognition. Brain-imaging studies support this relationship.
