The novel Downriver will teach my students about teamwork, responsibility, and self-respect, while also transporting them to the raging rapids of the Colorado River! My goal is to show them that reading can take them on a true adventure! Students will participate in Socratic Seminars to collectively discuss the characters, plot, and theme of the novel. They will investigate the challenging vocabulary in the book and complete many hands-on activities that will foster their deeper understanding of the text. Not only is the book an exciting read.. it also teaches important lessons in a relatable way. Your support would mean the world to us!
