I am requesting resources in order to start a variety of sensory diet options within our room. I am requesting a vibrating pillow, balance horses, a light table, and weighted items. These materials will enhance learning through hands-on activities that stimulate the child's senses. This is a great way for children to explore the world they live in! Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction. For children with autism they have a variety of aspects that causes them to react differently to different situations, the items that were selected will give a wide range of calming sensations that would benefit multiple behaviors. This will help with transitions throughout their school day to be more successful and to promote a better learning environment.
