My students love to read and listen to books on their Chromebooks. Unfortunately, the headphones that are provided from the district don’t always fit in their little ears and therefore are unusable. Many studies show that with exposure to literacy, students own literacy skills improve, they tend to like reading more, their exposure to vocabulary is great and therefore increases, and their comprehension becomes stronger. My goal is that everyday they are exposed to fiction and nonfiction stories to help them imagine a world beyond the one they live. These students come from diverse backgrounds ones which are rich with literature and others that are not. Many times the books at school are the only ones they have access to during the day.
