My goal is to enhance learning and increase engagement in the classroom with the use of flexible seating arrangements. Instead of regular desk chairs, students will have the option to sit on stools or bounce balls at their desks. During reading workshop, students can use saucer chairs, bounce balls, or floor cushions and body pillows for floor seating. Children need to move, and flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand. An uncomfortable student is a distracted and unproductive student. Flexible seating will encourage my students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive.
