Music motivates my students to move. The speaker we are currently using in PE is about to die on us. Some of the days the speaker isn't working, my kids are slow, lethargic or won't even try. The days the speaker is working, there is laughter, effort and fun in the gym. Even when my students are running (the dreaded activity) and a good song comes on, smiles go across every face and the kids pick up their pace. It truly makes them move. Music is also utilized to begin and end multiple activities in the gym. Without music, lessons don't go as planned and they tend to be less enjoyable. Music makes it so that even the most challenging activities are exciting and fun.
