Because of my special education background, I know that students who come from poverty have a higher risk of ending up incarcerated. It is sad, but statistically proven. In order to beat these statistics, I want to teach all of my students to read, and read well. Kindergarten is where they receive this base knowledge of literacy. It is my belief that reading is powerful and if you can read, you can learn about whatever you want. I want to give my students this ability and the power in their lives they so desperately need. Your donation would help my students become stronger readers and stronger members of society. A kidney table would help me teach guided reading. This means that I would be able to work with four to five students at one time. They would be able to sit around me and I could help them all.
