All of my students are receiving special educational services. Many of them have behavioral disabilities that impact their ability to regulate their emotions throughout the day. This severely impacts their learning. They are also from very low income homes. They come to this school from all over the state, as well as bordering states. We work hard to provide them a safe place to learn and manage their behaviors. We strive to teach them strategies to overcome their individual challenges. Many of them do not have access to technology outside of the classroom. Quite a few of them struggle to read and are not able to write sentences independently. Having access to chromebooks will allow them to use the speech to text feature. This will give them the ability to express themselves more clearly. Our school has recently begun to implement the Deep Learning philosophy. This gives the students the chance to learn about topics that are of interest to them and direct their own learning. Having chromebooks will provide the students the ability to research topics that interest them as well as create projects on those topics.
