We will read the book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey together, and students will complete and discuss related exercises from the accompanying workbook. The goal is to teach students about the 7 habits, and then help them to incorporate the habits into their daily lives. English language learning students face many challenges, among them being unfamiliar with American societal expectaions and norms. Introduction of and exposure to habits which lead to success in American teenagers, practiced through reading, role play, and discussion, will "level the playing field" for many EL students who are disadvantaged by limited English language proficiency and exposure.
