Chromebooks will be used daily! Our classroom will utilize our technology with individualized learning programs. We will utilize Lexia, MyOn, ReadTheory, NewsELA, and MAP Skills ELA. MyOn has a variety of books based on each students lexile level. Each of these programs are used for reading comprehension and fluency. Every student should have the opportunity to read a book they understand to build reading comprehension! My students are also learning the basic skills of typing and how to navigate through a computer. My students are always so excited to take advantage of computer time. Students will be doing Text-Dependent Analyses (TDA's) and Document-Based Questions (DBQ's). To prepare students for middle school, children must be able to use evidence to support their writing and cite sources. An opportunity to type will give the students instant feedback in their writing process. Chromebooks will allow time in class everyday, rather than once a week to work on these assignments. In addition, students will explore Google, Microsoft, and Apple products! Our classroom will utilize google to collaborate in team projects using Google slides and docs. Students will illustrate and construct their educational artwork in various mediums such as brochures, powerpoints, iMovie, collages, word clouds, stop-motion animation, and prezis. Students will analyze their learning and keep a blog to self-reflect. The Chromebooks would be a great addition and an extension of their learning. As a first year teacher, these Chromebooks will be loved and well taken care of! They will be used for many students to come!
