We've all curled up with a good book in a comfortable room. I want to create that feeling in my classroom. As a result, I am requesting blue light filters, bean bag chairs, puzzles and sensory tools to encourage learning and focus in my classroom. We can do better than fluorescent lights for our kids. Studies show that fluorescent lights agitate them. Blue light filters would neutralize their harsh glare and create a soothing classroom environment. Getting to sit in a bean bag chair during reading time will help keep them comfortable and focused on reading. It will associate reading with relaxing and having fun. Sensory toys and puzzles will help my students who like to use their hands in a way that doesn't distract others or misuse classroom materials. The liquid timers can help students who are agitated calm down. The sensory tools allow students to self-regulate and respect those around them. When students are done with their work and have done their reading, the puzzle would give students who are more tactile and spatial learners the opportunity to stretch their minds. With these materials, my students will be able to better focus, relax and learn!
