My goal this year is to help my third grade students learn to work collaboratively, communicate their thoughts and ideas, and to approach challenges using creativity and analytical thinking. These are essential skills that will prepare them for success in future educational endeavors and eventually in the work force. I believe a littleBits Gizmos and Gadgets Kit would help me accomplish my goals. A littleBits Gizmos and Gadgets Kit will make complex technology accessible to my third grade students. LittleBits are color-coded electronic building blocks that are magnetic, which helps to ensure student success. The kit is reusable and will enhance and extend curriculum with lessons linked to NGSS standards and Common Core standards. Students will experiment and engineer solutions to real-world problems through innovation and invention. The kit is high-interest, motivating, and will make learning fun. My third grade students are embracing a growth mindset where they know they can progress and achieve goals with hard work and effort. A littleBits Gizmos and Gadgets Kit will help to reinforce this mindset and the importance of perseverance when things don’t work.
