Self-regulation can be difficult for many students, especially those who have been identified as having an autism spectrum disorder. When a student is regulated, they are able to move from dependence to independence. My students are given multiple opportunities every day to explore items in our sensory cupboard, I would like to expand upon the limited choices we currently have. From exploring in the sand and water table to building with magnetic sensory builders, my students will be learning how to find calm and regulate their emotions. Every student is different, my goal is to give them as many opportunities to find what works for them as possible.
