Students in 5th grade at our school participate in thematic units that build their knowledge of how the United States was created. Along with a variety of projects students are required to read historical fiction based on the time period we are studying. The book we are campaigning to receive will walk students through the period of the American Revolution. Esther Forbes brings this time period to life through phenomenal character development and an exciting fast paced plot. In order to put a book in every child's hand, we need 50 more copies of Johnny Tremain, a novel by Esther Forbes.
