Essential Question: How does classism function in our modern society? How does social power influence our true identity? Using The Great Gatsby, we will draw thoughtful connections between Gatsby and Marxist Theory through our writing and in-class discussions. In AP English Language and Composition, our last two units focused on how Otherness functions within Race and Gender. Students will now explore Class/Social Power through their reading and analysis of The Great Gatsby. This novel, an American classic, will serve as a great example of how money and social power influence ones identity and impact how they navigate the world around them.

About my class
