Using the Sphero robots, students will create, then code their way through a miniature golf course set up in our room. Students will use the protractors and tape that comes in the class pack to design a golf course with specific criteria based on the Standards for Mathematical Practices and Geometry. After the design process, we will vote on the best designs to actually build and play! The goal is for student's to code their way through the mini-golf course, with their robot in the shortest amount of time. Using their understanding of specific math standards, they will apply their knowledge in new and novel ways. We will also use the Spheros for Robot Bowling, where students have to code their little Sphero down the lanes to knock over strategically placed pins. For our culminating end of the year task, students will experience the exciting world of Battle Bots! Students will design battle armor and try to protect their balloon from being destroyed by their enemies!
