My students need cooking equipment such as a blender, a griddle, and a mixer so we prepare our students with independent life skills and opportunities for healthy choices! Cooking for life will be a weekly adventure. The students will engage in a hands-on preparation of simple recipes- healthy and resourceful. They will follow recipes, measure ingredients and together try new foods. Cooperation and communication will be used as they prepare their creations. The materials I am hoping to get will allow us to prepare a variety of recipe- The griddle for pancakes, a blender for fruit smoothies, and a mixer and muffin tins for a variety of muffins. The other materials will help for preparation and mixing. These experiences are necessary for this population. Promoting independence and self worth is a life long process for them. With multiple disabilities and health concerns, exploring nutritional possibilities will help develop a positive lifestyle !
