I am the Science Lab Specialist at a Title One school in rural Greenville County, South Carolina. Our district has a mandated fitness program to encourage students to exercise and curb childhood obesity. Our school's recent adventure addressing this issue is our Healthy Kids Gardening Program. The program's goal is to interest children in "good" vegetables and fruits by raising them. The children are using an organic garden to grow their food-eliminating chemicals, etc, from their diets.
