Our students have 30 minutes per day for recess. Their current play area is starting to feel outdated and can become boring for the students' developing minds and bodies. Having new materials is a good start as we work to refresh and redesign their play area. Research shows that students need an outlet for their physical energy. They also need the time and space for unstructured play to build social skills, navigate low-level conflict, and cooperate with peers. Having new equipment will allow them to interact with each other in a fun, creative way. And of course, we know that exercise is essential for their health.
