Resilient is the best way to describe Stroman Middle School students. Most live in a community with both limited resources and ways to acquire such. Over 80 percent come from economically disadvantaged homes. Additionally, nearly 60 percent are identify at-risk (for not graduating). Our district sustained significant damage from hurricane Harvey, as a result, funds to purchase technology are not available. My students deserve a classroom that can, through technology, support relevant learning experiences. Technology motivates students by providing hands on activities and promoting relevant experiences . Unfortunately, due in part to the lack of technology, students express difficulty making connections between classroom learning and real world experiences.
