I teach a group of second grade students who read at a variety of different levels. My students find great joy in reading, but continue to need assistance becoming really great, fluent readers. Our school is in a Missouri suburb and is comprised mostly of children who qualify for free and reduced lunch. They come from small and large families, some students being raised in traditional households while some are being raised by extended families. They all come from homes where their parents and guardians care deeply for them and only want the very best education for their children.
