When I began teaching Physics for the District, the program was at an all time low with barely 4 full classes. One year later, and I have 6 full classes. The challenge has been finding enough working calculators for the students, particularly those who are not taking a higher level math, and who have chosen Physics as one of their Science electives. Many of the calculators I have scraped together have missing printed keys that I must write on with Sharpie. Five have simply passed on and refuse to work. For classes of 25 students, I have 11 working calculators. Our district experienced Hurricane Harvey last year, and one full campus is in portable buildings. Calculators are a low priority, understandably.
