We have the amazing opportunity this year at our high school to paint numerous murals throughout the school. Our goal is to paint every bathroom stall in the girls and boys restrooms, including the staff doors on the main floor of our school. The themes will be Pacific Island/Tropical, African, Mexican/Latin, Vietnamese/Asian, European, Indian, Australian/New Zealand and of course a school spirit one! They are already researching ideas for large, bold patterns associated with each country/culture and looking up inspirational and empowering quotes or words to add to the murals. We have 7 hallways, called academies, that each contain 9 doors plus 9 more by the office needing some culture. That’s a lot of doors! We need the gesso to prep so their paintings will stick to it and the varnish will help protect it from water. I want these students to be proud of their work and become a part of our school history and story.
