This project will enable my students to better understand molecular bonding, both ionic and covalent, as well as VSEPR theory. Having that "hands-on" experience will be a tremendous benefit to my students. Since most of my students are kinetic learners, this will help them understand why some chemicals react the way they do. It will also help them see why and how elements combine, why crystals take the shapes they do, and how many atoms are necessary to complete a reaction. There are so many lessons I could use these model kits in to help my students! As I consider where and how I could implement these kits into my teaching, I see more and more possibilities! With our school's limited resources, these kits will be put to good use.
