These inspirational books will provide excellent ways to incorporate art history, different cultures, and reading in our art curriculum. Many of the books are about famous artists such as Jackson Pollack in the book Action Jackson! Some books help our artists learn to trust and create their own ideas and imaginings such as The Dot. Other books help our young students to express themselves through art such as My Pen. I often use books as a starting point for our young students because books incorporate beautiful illustrations, and get the kids excited for the art we are about to create. Books are an excellent way to peak students' interest while encouraging kids to use their imaginations without a screen. Books with a variety of styles of illustration help our students discover their own artistic style as they are exposed to the many different media choices, colors, lines and shapes used. Books are art, and they belong in our classroom!!
