In my classroom, students are given daily opportunities to practice math and literacy skills to build mastery and fluency through independent centers. Students build responsibility and stamina. Given colorful and vibrant center materials, hands-on take cards, and books, students are more engaged with the materials, the activities, and their learning. These colorful and vibrant activities give them a hands on approach to learning. Worksheets and drilling to the point of frustration, are long gone in my classroom. I want my students to experience math by using math. I want them to become readers by reading. Engaging them with color vibrant activities and books is key to their learning.
