Students will use the puzzles to correctly identify and match long and short vowels, compound words, rhyming words, blends and digraphs. Students will also take magnetic letters to spell and create sentences using first grade sight words. Students will load and make words by listening and identifying the sounds they hear and change the beginning, middle or end to make a new word. Students will have to work together to practice taking turns, and use appropriate cooperative language. Students will be using these games during independent center rotations while the teacher is working with small groups on guided reading and phonics practice.
