Reading centers are a huge part of our daily instruction in the classroom. Each day I meet with a small group of students to teach reading skills that they need to work on. The rest of the class must work in centers to review work or read independently to practice. This takes place with a 4 group, 15-minute rotation. That means for about 45 minutes per day the students are sitting on the floor to read, or sitting in uncomfortable plastic chairs. If you chose to donate to our classroom reading center, you will be helping our kids understand that reading is a time to relax and enjoy a good book. I love to allow them time to do their work independently and sit in various locations around the room. However, we do not have any resources for this. I have a room that has a hard white floor with no comfortable chairs or carpet to relax on. I am looking for someone to donate, a nice colorful area rug, and 2 or 3 bean bag chairs, and maybe some 2 or 3 colorful bungee chairs for my students to share during this.
