This is my first year teaching so at the moment my room is pretty bare. Through research I have learned that when working with kids who have learning disabilities they tend to be able to focus and concentrate more when they are in a comfortable environment that is more similar to a home setting, rather than a fixed classroom. Not everyone fits into the mold of structured seating and sometimes lying down on a comfy rug or curling up in a bean bag chair can make all the difference. Having the resources they need nearby in a well organized shelf unit can also ease their mind because they are able to easily locate items needed.
