When students are anxious or overwhelmed they have a much more difficult time learning. We want to provide a space for students to relax and take a break for a few minutes when they need to. I am requesting two weighted blankets and a white noise machine which will be added to a comfortable area in the library where students can go if they are feeling stressed. They can spend some time using items that will relax them and once they are feeling better they will be in a healthier frame of mind. We'll also use these items to teach students how they can calm themselves outside of school. Learning to recognize and take care of anxious thoughts is a skill that will last a lifetime.
