I will be teaching English Language Arts for our 4th Grade Scholars this year. It’s hard for them to get excited about reading when most of the books we read, don’t speak to their experiences. When I was in school, I was excited when I read topics that I could relate to. Our scholars shouldn’t have to consistently draw conclusions from experiences they don’t connect with. Part of what makes reading fun is see yourself in the things you read. This is how I plan to improve our student’s reading.
