Imagine being 12 years old, entering the computer lab with your teacher. You've been waiting for this for quite some time, you know the other kids get access to technology here and there and you've just been waiting for your turn to learn on those old, but amazing nonetheless, desktops you walk by every day on your way to class. It's finally your turn and you're going to get to learn something new about the world in a way that you rarely get to, immersing yourself in it through technology. However, when you plant yourself in front of the large, burly screen you immediately notice that one of the clicking buttons on the mouse has been ripped off and, upon further examination, that several keys are missing off the keyboard. You think to yourself, "man, this school really does not care about my success." This is the narrative for many of my students. Being identified as a student with an IEP puts you at the bottom of the list when it comes to claiming technology and, even when you do get it, the quality of the technology is used and outdated. I don't believe this should be the case. I firmly believe that my students should get access to technology on a daily basis and receive instruction that is as robust and daring as many of their personalities are. The funding of this project and access to chromebooks would not just allow my students a privilege that they rarely get. It would revolutionize their learning and grant them opportunities they have never even imagined. I hope you'll consider helping out our classroom, we appreciate you taking the time to even read this and learn the hurdles both me and my face every day in the pursuit of their success.
