Our school is located in the Philadelphia suburbia area. Our building just opened our Autistic Support classrooms, which means that we are slowly trying to build it up into our second home. Although we have come a long way from first walking into the classroom, there is still a lot to add to help my students succeed. Many of my students struggle to regulate their sensory needs. Some noises are overwhelmingly loud for them, bright lights are distracting, and deep pressure help calms them. By lacking these things, it makes it more difficult to succeed on everyday tasks, let alone learning letters and how to read. Please help me support them by providing us with items such as weighted blankets, light filters, wiggle stools, noise reduction headphones, and sensory bins. These items will help regulate their sensory needs, which will then allow them to focus on everyday, and academic tasks.
