Whoa Baby...what a diverse class we have! We are a 2nd grade classroom with a vast variety of backgrounds from Mandarin to Mountain Mexico, but we all are ONE class! The materials that I have requested for our classroom will be used to create various projects that represent the diverse backgrounds of our students. One of the projects the students will create is called "This Is Us." The students will have a bag and bring in items that represent their family. The students will then create an exciting backdrop for their "Us Bag" that represents their culture and how they celebrate their culture. It will also provide the various colors that represent our spectrum of colors that are present in our classroom. We read a plethora of stories in our class that reflect a large range of cultures and backgrounds. We also create various projects that reflect books, as well as projects that reflect the students in the classroom. If our class is provided these materials, it would provide our students with a wide range of color tones that are needed to reflect the varying colors in our society that we live in. Our school is a Title I school and we receive the universal breakfast and daily snack. Our demographics represent a school that we proudly embrace and nurture too. Many of the materials that have been requested are just too much to ask our parents to purchase for the students. These materials that have been requested will allow the students in the classroom to be able to present using classroom materials that are the same color as them. Our class CAN'T wait to use all of the materials requested!
