This year I am replacing traditional morning work with some STEM activities my students can do with their peers. Instead of requiring them to sit at their seats and complete some seat work quietly, I will give my students the opportunity to socialize, problem solve, and be creative. I hope this will give my students something to look forward to each morning and start their day in a positive way. I plan to structure this time in a way that encourages the kids to try a variety of projects with a rotating set of peers. This collaboration will also strengthen my classroom community.
