Every student has had to adjust to the new learning environment as a result of the global pandemic. As children, it is difficult to adjust to keeping masks on throughout their learning. As an attempt to up engagement and student buy-in with the masks, I proposed this project. My students earned 20 compliments in order to be rewarded with a tie die party. It is my hope that students will take pride in their masks and be accountable for keeping each other safe. This lesson I will incorporate will teach students science, health, and social-emotional learning. The learning outcome is for students to keep themselves and each other safe in their learning environment.
