Playing board games, such as "Ticket to Ride", can help my students develop social skills, such as taking turns, working in groups, and interacting with a variety of people. Social skill development has been interrupted for many students by the shutdowns and social restrictions due to COVID-19. "Ticket to Ride" can also help my students learn academic content. They can learn about how technology increased the expansion of the United States, and how expansion impacted Native Americans, immigrants, and business owners. They can also learn about economics and land ownership. Academic learning could be enhanced through the social aspect of the board game.
