The fluorescent lighting of school classrooms has been noted to cause visual fatigue and create a glare when looking at classroom materials. This causes students vision to be less clear than normal. Fluorescent lighting can also trigger migraines and seizures in students as well as effect sensory disorders. I have previously purchased lighting filters for over my reading area, and it is now a place that my students gravitate towards. I also have students who typically spend hours in beds and looking at the fluorescent lights causes them to squint or keep their eyes closed. Adding lighting covers throughout my classroom will help my students to be more engaged during the school day as they will have clearer vision and not experience fatigue or other medical issues.
