These materials will help students with special needs on-the-job training they might not get anywhere else. Because we are a rural community, and finding jobs in the area is very difficult, this gives us an opportunity for our students to work on those skills in school. The materials chosen will be used to create a coffee/juice hands on business within our school. The special education students will create business cards and advertisements to start off their business. They will then create order forms and take orders. The students will then tally their orders and prepare the coffee. They will then offer a delivery service to the teachers classroom. This will allow students to develop organizational skills as well as much needed communication skills but above all these they will gain a feeling of accomplishment. The items we asked for will get the student's coffee business up and running. It will self fund after this initial donation. The students have high hopes in expanding to create a cafe in our classroom where teachers can come and order snacks and lunches once the initial business has begun. This hands-on learning opportunity will develop my students' communication, social and daily living skills! My students and I are extremely excited for this experience; we hope you will share with us in this life-changing opportunity!
