These materials will be given to the students to use in making their own bottle rocket cars and learning about chemical reactions. They will be reacting two chemicals (sodium bicarbonate and citric acid) to produce a gas (carbon dioxide) and propel their car forward. Every student will be given 3D printed wheels and an empty water bottle. They then have the freedom to customize their car however they would like with these materials. They must use their engineering skills to figure out how wheels spin, creating axles. How to build pressure but also exert the gas from the bottle, to make the car move. And they also must calculate how much sodium bicarbonate and citric acid to use! With these supplies, students will have the opportunity to show their science and engineering skills through project based learning!
